FAQ

Reamping
questions

What is reamping?

Reamping means sending a recorded dry guitar track (a DI) through a real amplifier, cabinet and microphone, and recording the result. You perform once and the tone is added afterwards.

Who has Yave Rust worked with?

Yave Rust, based in Richmond, Virginia, has recorded, mixed or mastered records for artists such as Municipal Waste, BAT, Morbikon, Night Hag, Destruct, Teratoma, Plaguefever, Disrotter, Ithaka, The Treasury, Wizurd Island, BloodRitual, Restrictor Plate and Pleco. Roles vary by release.

Why reamp instead of using amp-sim plugins?

Plugins are excellent for writing and tracking. Reamping adds real tubes, real speakers moving air and real preamps and compressors. You also keep your clean DI and can reamp it again with different gear later.

What do I need to send?

A dry DI of each guitar, exported as 24-bit WAV at your session sample rate, with no amp sim, EQ or compression. A reference song or a short description of the tone you want helps a lot.

Can I reamp from anywhere in the world?

Yes. The whole process is online. You send your files, we reamp them in the Richmond studio and send the tracks back, so your country and time zone do not matter.

Which gear do you use?

Amps such as the Peavey 5150, cabinets from Marshall, Mesa and Peavey, microphones such as the Shure SM57 and Sennheiser MD 421, and outboard preamps, EQs, compressors and saturators from Trident, API, CAPI, Lindell, SSL, dbx, Rupert Neve Designs and others.

Which DAW do I need?

Any. We work with audio files, so Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One and others are all fine.

How do I get started?

Tell us about your project through the contact form, WhatsApp or Instagram. We will confirm the details and tell you how to send your files.
